For last year's words belong to last year's language. And next year's words await another voice _ T.S. Eliot.

A new year is one full of things that have never been, so please chill with all these new year new me attitude !

How about “New year ,Clean state?”

OR

”New Year , another chance to get it right ? Let’s go with the words in pink prints on the image below :

Try reading it out loud :

Just like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written, the rest of the 364 days in 2020 stands before us and for the most part , whatever happens to us depends a great deal on what we bring !

Our attitude , the choices we make and the efforts we put in!

Every year, we make resolutions and say, "This is the year I'm finally gonna follow that big dream." And year after year, we put it off just a little longer.

I did that a lot in 2019 and paid dearly for it. I almost fell into the same trap this new year!

Laziness and procrastination was gonna make me miss the timeline I had set for writing my blog posts but I asked myself this question

“Do you want to look back on 2020 as another year you delayed your dreams? Or, do you want to look back on it as the year you FINALLY took charge?”

I am throwing this question back at you .

That time is over.

It's a new decade, and a new chance to make good on my goals and I intend to make the most of it.

LET’S GET REAL !

I remember working on my vision board and curating this fine ass , colorful and dreamy collage of “dreams“ earlier this year. Then bam! I experienced my first challenge few days later . One of my goals for the year is not gonna work as I planned .

I was planning to move out of my aunt’s house and get my own place .

I thought I had my “WHY” figures out and it ranged from

“not overstaying my welcome” ,

to “figuring things out on my own by moving out of my comfort zone”

and “gaining back my freedom”.

You have no idea how I was looking forward to this!

I even did some window shopping at Home Sense and picked out what my ideal furnishings will be.

I scheduled a meeting with my mentor to discuss my plan with her and she made me see reasons as to why this move might be wrong for me at this stage of my career, especially with the rare opportunity I have.

She proceeded to send me a budget template and when I finished the budget planning for the year, I asked myself if my “why” was reason enough to move at this time truly.

It’s safe to say I have learnt another lesson and have gone back to the drafting board to readjust the steps towards my goals.

I am grateful for my job but now I know that I need to dust my resume and start working at getting a promotion at my current job that will pay better or going back on the job quest in search of one that pays enough to finance my goals.

Breaking news : “Adulting is not easy but we move !!!

Lesson Learnt :

Beyond creating a nice vision board, have a practical map that will help you achieve your goals.

Seeing the vision is not enough !

You need to figure out the right plan to take that goal from ideation to execution and be realistic while at it!

Wow, you made it to the last paragraph. You deserve a gift .

Kindly write a comment and your email address below and i will send you a copy of the budget template or better still , subscribe to my mailing list .
